So, at Gaia today we had a forum on cuss words. It was interesting to listen to everyone's opinions there.

My opinion is as follows. Cuss words are not bad words, they are simply words. Using any one word in a repetitive or improper manner is a sign of lack of vocabulary and/or knowledge in language. However, just because you don't have this knowledge does not make you a stupid person. I use "cuss" words. I don't tend to use them often. I do tend to use them when expressing anger or frustration. I rarely, pretty sure never, cuss at another individual in order to hurt their feelings. Words are a great thing and there usually are better words to define someone or something. However, you gotta admit, sometimes the best word to describe someone is what are deemed "cuss" words. In my vocabulary some of those words are asshole and prick. Usually used when I don't care to take the time to come up with a better word of describing the individual. I also never really use the words God Damn or Jesus Christ. Not because of fear that I will be hit by lightening or fear that it is showing that I'm holding on to previous traditions. They just don't appeal to me. And I would never try to take a certain God(dess) that I believe in name in vain. I'm not sure if they'd retaliate, but I really don't care to find out. There are much better words to use... However, in general when I "cuss", it does tend to be fuck or shit. Easy to say. However, when wanting to get complicated fuck is the best word of them all because you can use it in so many ways. I.E. Fuck, fucking, fuckity, fuck fuck, mother fucker, etc...

So, that's my view. What's yours?

i tend to agree. those who use cuss words all the time lack vocabulary. case in point, my mother. every other word is fuck, she also likes to use shit, god damn, mother fucker, fucking____ (insert racist word here), fucking idiot, bitch, etc... normally when talking about myself or kristi. hrm...and people wonder why i cannot stand my mother and why i tend to try to be as different as her as i can.
