Ignorance or Lack of Knowledge

So, I've been told that I can not expect everybody to know the information on weight loss that I know as it is not common day knowledge. However, I have a hard time believing that some of this is not common sense! I mean think about...
If you cut your calories you will lose weight.
If you cut your fat, you will lose weight.
If you cut your carbs, you will lose weight.
If you cut your sugar, you will lose weight.
If you add calcium to your diet, you're bound to be cutting something out, so you will lose weight.
If you eat more fiber, once again you're bound to cut something else out, so you will lose weight.
If you exercise, you will lose weight.
Why are all these a big surprise to people?!?! If you want to lose weight and you're not concerned about health than cut something from your diet or exercise.
I realize my above is a simplification for what is going on, but I feel that by looking at these different fad diets people could figure out those little things. I.E. Jeez, I'm doing Adkins and cutting carbs, which means I'm probably eating less sugar than I was before. OR I'm doing the Dolly Pardon Diet/Heart diet and I've pretty much cut all protein and carbs out of my diet!
Okay, I'm gonna stop here. I could go on forever about this. I would apologize for making you read this but you clicked on it. However, if you would like to blame somebody for this rant, blame Fox! That's right, Fox is to blame! Those bastards are so busy trying to uncover things that they've reached a whole new level of retarded. This rant is just one of the many I have about their news program, but one I can't get off of today.
What started this whole pissy rant was Fox's "scientific study" on whether Super Size Me was an accurate documentary. I'm just curious how much money McDonalds gave Fox to do this?
Anyhow, for those who don't know what Super Size Me is, it is a documentary that came out about McDonald's food. A guy ate McDonalds for a month straight and ended up getting really sick from it. Duh!
However, Fox did their own experiment. They had a guy eat McDonalds similar to Super Size Me, except for one HUGE BIG FUCKING DISTINCTION and one smaller one. The huge distinction: He exercised for an hour three times a week. The smaller distinction, he avoided drinking soda.
Okay, first of all if you want to prove a study wrong, you need to do EVERYTHING the exact same fucking way as the first study. Secondly, he lost weight and got healthier because he was exercising. At that point they were no longer looking at McDonalds food and whether it's good for you or not. They were looking at exercise and what it can do for you.
So, my response to you Fox fuck heads is to re-do your stupid study with some one who is exercising and eating healthy foods, not McDonalds and compare it to your McDonalds guy. McDonalds is not good for you! And now I'm gonna have to deal with hundreds (if not more) of ignorant people who rely on you fucks to tell them the truth calling me and telling me that McDonalds is too good for them because Fox told them so.
Okay, my rant really is done now...

Wow
Date: 2005-03-15 08:44 pm (UTC)I suppose "scientific method" is as foreign a concept as "fair and balanced" these days?

Date: 2005-03-15 08:59 pm (UTC)The guy in Supersize me drank the sodas and rented a car as PART of the documentary, because that is what NORMAL humans do. He normally walked 5 miles a day but had to get down to the 1 mile a day average.
If Fox removed the soda and added exercise to lessen the blow, then that's not news... Supersize me already did that in the documentary when they showed the guy that had eaten 20,000 big macs... and then pointed out he doesn't do fries. I personally noted that when he eats two big macs, there aren't two large Cokes either.
Heh... gang-rant!
